ScienceofSpeed recommends the following optional high performance pads for the Stoptech ST40 caliper. Please note that each of these pads produces more dust and noise than the standard StopTech Street Performance Pad.

 

Carbotech AX-6 Panther Plus
Autocross & Light Track Pad
- recommended for high traction street tires
The AX6 takes the place of the Panther Plus compound that was so successful. AX6 was specifically engineered for Autocross applications. A high torque brake compound delivering reliable and consistent performance over a very wide operating temperature range (50F to 1150F +). Advanced compound matrix provides an excellent initial "bite", high coefficient of friction, and very progressive brake modulation and release characteristics. AX6 offers high fade resistance, rotor friendliness at all temperatures, excellent cold stopping power, and non corrosive dust. As a result, AX6 is an excellent choice for Autocross & AX6 has gained tremendous popularity with SCCA Prosolo/Solo2 competitors for its fantastic bite, release & modulation. Many drivers use the AX6 for street driving as well (due to it's moderate dust and noise level), even though Carbotech doesn’t recommend street driving with AX6 due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise. AX6 is NOT a race compound, and should not be used as such.
 
Carbotech XP10
Track Day Pad
- R compound tires required
When Carbotech unleashed the XP10 to the general public, and it was an instant success, gathering multiple regional, divisional, and national championships. The XP10 is a very high initial bite friction material, with a coefficient of friction and rotor friendliness unmatched in the industry. Fade resistance is in excess of 1650F. Due to the high level of friction and bite, this material is recommended for cars weighing around 2,000lbs or more, not including formula cars and cars with brake bias bars weighing less than 2,000lbs. This is the preferred compound for the front of Spec Miata racers, SSC,SSB, T3, SRF, ITS, ITE, H1,H2, H3, H4, 944 Cup, ST, GS, Factory Five Cobra’s and many more Grand-Am/ALMS/SCCA/NASA classes. XP10 is also ideal for advanced/instructor level HPDE drivers. XP10 still maintains the highly praised release and excellent modulation, rotor friendliness, and 100% non-corrosive dust that have made all Carbotech compounds so successful. XP10 is not recommended as a daily-driven street pad due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise.
 
Performance Friction PFC 97 Race
Full Race Pad - for enduro racing, R compound tires required, full slick tires recommended
PFC 97 is a full race pad with medium average torque output, a very flat torque output over its operating temperature and pressure range, and an MOT of 2,000F. It exhibits exceptionally low rotor and pad wear, excellent modulation, and excellent release characteristics. 97 has proven very popular on the front of front engine cars that are driven at lapping and open track events as well as on the rear of pro-level race cars.
 
Performance Frication PFC 01 Race
Full Race Pad - for professional enduro racing, full slick tires required
PFC 01 is a full race pad with high average torque output. It has a flat torque output over its operating temperature range and a rising torque output over its operating pressure range. 01 exhibits excellent bite, low pad and rotor wear, and an MOT of 2,000F. It is the pad of choice for top SPEED World Challenge teams. This pad is recommended for pro-level race cars that have the brake, tire, and suspension tuning capability to deal with the high torque this pad produces.
