Honda short gears

 

Honda JDM Short Gearset

Japanese and European 5-speed NSX are equipped with a gearset that offers tighter 2-4 gear ratios. The US gearset results in shift points in the lower gears that places the resulting engine speed below the optimal power point. The JDM short gears allow better acceleration especially noticeable in the shift between 1st and 2nd as the engine does not fall out of the useable powerband. The JDM Short Gearset includes all parts to retrofit your US-spec gearbox. This modification results in faster acceleration times. Excellent in combination with the NSX-R 4.23 or Comptech 4.55 final drive gears.

The kits include the mainshaft and gears for the counter and mainshaft.

For high mileage NSX, we recommend replacing the common gears found in all NSX transmissions.

We offer as an option the "common gears" found in the US and Japanese 5-spd transmissions. These three gears include the countershaft 1st gear, mainshaft 5th gear, and countershaft 5th gear. These gears do not need to be replaced in transmission rebuilds unless there is existing damage or there is wear from mileage (we usually recommend replacing these if the transmission has more than 150k miles.
