ScienceofSpeed FI Custom Engine Program

 

 
Utilizing our high performance internal engine components, ScienceofSpeed offers a custom engine program for increasing the strength of the factory engine to accommodate the addition of superchargers or turbochargers.

The engines are fully disassembled, cleaned, inspected, machined, balanced, and reassembled with exacting tolerances that exceed factory specifications. Each engine is fully rebuild with all new seals and gaskets. Each engine that is assembled by ScienceofSpeed includes a blueprint specification sheet that details weights, clearance specifications, and components used.

ScienceofSpeed offers three "stages" of engines designed to accommodate specific power goals. These stages are rated by the power limits they can support - a properly designed and tuned supercharger or turbocharger system is required to realize these power gains. These stage builds can be customized by the customer for specific needs.

Engine designed for 500 wheel horsepower (570 crankshaft hp). Retains factory cast iron sleeves. This package is designed for 3.0L engines only (3.2L engines are equipped with FRM cylinder blocks and must be sleeved - see Stage 2).
 
Stage 1 includes:
components:
  • ScienceofSpeed forged low compression piston with Xylan skirt coating, rings, pins, & locks
  • MLS head gasket set
  • ARP head stud set
  • complete new genuine factory cylinder head seal set, cylinder block seal set, bearing set, & timing belt
services:
  • clean & inspect cylinder heads, cylinder block, connecting rods, and crankshaft
  • bushing of factory connecting rods for floating pin
  • cylinder heads: surface heads, inspect guides, competition valve job
  • cylinder block: surface deck, machine & bore sleeves to size
  • blueprinted assembly: set ring gap, measure and adjust clearances, record weights, provide specification sheet

Engine package designed for either 3.0L or 3.2L blocks. Engine includes resleeved cylinder block with ductile iron dry or wet sleeve. 3.0L engine displacement may be increased to 3.2L. Rated for up to 600 wheel horsepower (with noted options).
 
Stage 2 includes:

  • ductile iron dry flange sleeve, or optional Darton MID sleeve
  • ScienceofSpeed forged low compression piston with Xylan skirt coating, rings, pins, & locks
  • MLS head gasket set
  • ARP head stud set
  • complete new genuine factory cylinder head seal set, cylinder block seal set, bearing set, & timing belt
services:

Stage 3 is the ultimate NSX powerplant. Featuring a sleeved 93mm cylinder block and rotating assembly stroked to 86mm, the stage 3 engine increases engine displacement to 3.5L. In addition, the engine receives several reinforced components and additional engine processing to support the power this engine is capable of. The increased stroke produces substantial torque increases (more than a 100 lb/ft gains with the same compressor are typical) and allows turbochargers to spool faster increasing throttle response.
