ScienceofSpeed Supercharger System for the Honda S2000

 

 
Packaging & Ease of Installation
  • A supercharger is a obvious addition to the S2000 engine bay. With the factory air box removed, there is a decent compartment available for the placement of a supercharger - however, placement of all the required components is not as easy as it may first appear. ScienceofSpeed took packaging into deep consideration as it affects many aspects of ownership including ease of installation, maintenance, aesthetics, and most importantly - the physical impact on the car. Decide to sell your car in the future? the ScienceofSpeed supercharger system is the only system available that does not require cutting, drilling, or bending of any factory sheet metal or frame components. ScienceofSpeed has also improved many aspects of other designs that allow the system to be installed and maintained with much more ease compared to other systems. Note that there are no core charges or exchanges to worry about with our system.
The Supercharger Compressor:
  • The Paxton Novi 1200 family of centrifugal superchargers was selected. The compressor has one of the best reliability records in the industry. The centrifugal compressor, like others from Vortech and Rotrex, move air volume fairly linearly with engine RPM. This is advantageous to a light, short wheel base car so that drivability can be maintained. The centrifugal compressor works particularly well in cars with very wide rev ranges like the S2000 (up to 9000 RPM on AP1).
Aerospace Vibration Dampening System:
  • The S2000 engine produces a decent amount of vibration. Through the use of an aerospace vibration dampening system, we are able to isolate the supercharger from the rest of the engine improving durability and cutting down on noise and harmonics to the cabin.
Belt Drive & Tensioner System:
  • Superchargers all share one principal: they pressurize the intake charge by spinning a compressor from a belt driven by the engine's crankshaft. This means that this is the most critical aspect of the system and where we believe our system is the best design compared to others. To properly drive the supercharger system, the supercharger's drive belt must have adequate belt wrap around the supercharger's pulley and must have a way of being effectively tensioned to allow the supercharger to not slip. Our system uses a locking screw drive tensioner - just like many factory automotive systems. This system offers the best performance and easiest installation of any systems we have had experience with. It is also the most reliable.
Induction System & Recirculation Valve:
  • Custom silicone intake elbow and AEM Dry Flow air cleaner positioned to the side of the radiator (where cool air passes) complete a simple but effective intake system. Dry Flow offers better filtration and flow with out the mess compared to K&N filters included in other kits. Intake elbow and air cleaner do not cut into the radiator and allow the hood to close properly unlike other systems. Recirculation valve is designed such that when off throttle (ie. freeway driving) the engine is not pressurized maximizing efficiency & economy. Valve design also is placed before the aftercooler for best performance.
Fuel Management System (2000-05)
  • The ScienceofSpeed Supercharger system includes a robust fuel management system. The system includes the ScienceofSpeed FVM (fuel/VTEC/MAP) Controller which allows electronic control of the fuel injectors to supply the required amount of fuel for the increased power, lowering of the VTEC engagement system for a smooth powerband, and MAP control. Also included in the system is a fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump. The systems offers a capacity over head to allow adjustment for cars producing more horsepower from free flowing aftermarket headers and exhaust.
Fuel Management System (2006-08)
  • The ScienceofSpeed Supercharger System for 2006-08 models includes a custom reflashed ECU that allows full fuel, ignition,  and VTEC mapping for the supercharger system. Larger 650cc injectors are used in conjunction with the ECU. The systems offers a capacity over head to allow adjustment for cars producing more horsepower from free flowing aftermarket headers and exhaust.
Self Lubricating Supercharger System (option)
  • ScienceofSpeed offers Paxton Supercharger's self lubricating (SL) option. The self lubricating model, as the name suggests, consists of an internal oil supply system eliminating the need to rely on the engine to supply lubrication to the compressor by way of feed and return hoses.
