The ScienceofSpeed Individual Throttle
Body system replaces the factory single throttle body and intake
manifold with an independent throttle body and runner per cylinder.
This high performance induction system is designed for modified
naturally aspirated engines where the factory throttle body and intake
manifold is the flow restriction. This system may be adapted for forced
induction use with a custom plenum designed by the customer. |

Individual throttles allow high speed
throttle response and increase in power by reducing pumping loss from a
conventional intake system.
The ScienceofSpeed Individual Throttle Body System is the only system
designed to function in a mostly factory application utilizing the
factory throttle cable pull, factory injector wire clips, provisions for
EGR removal, and engine bay clearancing. While other systems were
designed for race car applications where the factory engine position is
changed, or non-Honda cylinder heads are used, the ScienceofSpeed
Individual Throttle Body System bolts to factory cylinder heads and fits
into the factory engine bay. Stand-alone engine management is required.
1995-2005 NSX require throttle cable conversion.
A tremendous amount of R&D was placed into designing a reliable linkage
design. Through several revisions, we were able to design a linkage
design that allows the precision and reliability of a common shaft
design while still allowing independent throttle body adjustment.
An innovative feature of the system not found on any other aftermarket
individual throttle system is the cold start idle control valve
developed by ScienceofSpeed. Using an electronic solenoid valve cold
start idle is maintained similar to the factory design.
Another innovative feature of the system is the independent floating
bell crank support. This design allows for misalignment of the factory
cylinder heads due to geometry changes due to thermal expansion,
surfacing the heads, block, or installing head gaskets with different
thicknesses. No aftermarket throttle system offers this for the NSX.
The ScienceofSpeed Individual Throttle
Body System was designed after 2 years of R&D to manufacture the most
advanced and reliable individual throttle body system for the NSX.
