ScienceofSpeed Valve Cover Refresh Program - NSX, 1991-05

The factory magnesium valve covers are prone to the factory paint chipping off with age.

The magnesium material is difficult to refinish due to its porosity, and the accumulation of oil with age. This refinishing process is a multi-step process to removing the original paint, bake out the oils, prep, mask, prime, and refinish the covers. The factory baffles will be removed and resealed after refinishing. 

The valve covers are refinished in factory color-matched texture black or red that closely matches the factory color. Optionally, the intake manifold cover can also be refinished.

We recommend installing these with new seals.  You can find valve coover gaskets as well as other engine service parts, here.

Note:

• The magnesium covers can very very fragile, especially on the edges around the outer seal. Your covers must be expertly packaged and shipping to ScienceofSpeed to avoid damage. Special packaging will ensure that your covers are returned undamaged to you. Covers are shipped oversize with insurance.
• Small flaws in the texture finish should be expected, specifically on the valve covers, due to the oil accumulation in the porous magnesium. While ScienceofSpeed takes extra care to minimize flaws, a certain amount of flaws are unavoidable.
• Turn around time is approximately 2 weeks from the day that the covers are received. You will be supplied with packaging instructions and an invoice after purchase. Please include the provided invoice in the package when shipping your covers for identification.
