Aluminum radiators from one to another can look deceptively similar. However, in our experience, there are two classes of radiators found in the aftermarket for the S2000. Certain brands, even brands that used to be premium, are now poorly made with mounting bosses out of position, warped cores, and welding lacking proper penetration and consistency. Cores with looser 6-8mm pitches are less expensive to manufacture, but perform poorly under demand and are less rigid. These radiators can typically be purchased for $400-500. The next grade is ultra-premium, featuring tight 5mm pitch tubes and expert fit-up and welding. However, that quality comes at a cost, requiring specialized machinery to produce tight fin pitch and specialized trained fabricators - with pricing typically exceeding $1,000.
After much research and discussion with radiator manufacturers, we found one willing to produce a radiator to our CAD-modeled specifications. The radiator produced by CSF for ScienceofSpeed is a radical departure from what has become the norm for an aftermarket radiator for the Honda S2000 - featuring a tight 42mm-thick, 5mm tube-pitch core and expert fabrication including robotically welded end tanks.
