Aluminum radiators from one to another can look deceptively similar.
Our goal in producing our own design was to address the deficiencies we've observed in other brands' fitment and quality while offering an ultra-high-performance core, typically found in motorsports radiators, at a fraction of the cost.
High-density tube radiator cores offer significant improvements in cooling efficiency without the need for thicker cores that can cause inlet-side restriction and increased weight.
The challenge with higher-density cores is that the precision required to properly assemble and braze the fins demands specialized, expensive automated equipment typically found only in high-volume OEM manufacturing. Conventional aftermarket radiators typically use a fin height (distance between tubes) of 6.5-8 mm and compensate by using much thicker cores, which reduce airflow since the thicker core increases the restriction on the inlet side, reducing cooling performance.
Expensive motorsports radiators, by comparison, need aerodynamically AND thermally efficient cores that allow air to pass through the core rather than around the core due to inlet-side restriction. These cores become very expensive to produce in low volume.
Other manufacturers said it was impossible to offer a high-density 5.1mm fin-height, 42mm thick, motorsports-grade radiator at our target price. Thankfully, our partner, CSF, has invested in specialized equipment to produce high-density cores and improve manufacturing efficiency through robotic welding, offering a motorsports-grade core at an affordable price.
This radiator attaches to OEM mounting locations and is compatible with all factory accessories, including the fan and fan resistor. ScienceofSpeed has further improved the conventional aftermarket design by replacing the plug typically installed on the rear of the tank that sprays backward onto the battery tray and ABS components. The ScienceofSpeed design includes a factory-style drain valve that flows down through the radiator core support, as with the factory radiator.
